Learning the profession
I actually went into makeup not knowing what I was getting into! I was in University to be a nurse and I realized that University life wasn’t for me. I thought do something simple – I decided to go to Toronto and do a makeup artistry program! Well, it wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth it and I found the passion I was looking for.
I attended the School of Makeup Art and graduated with a certification in Makeup and Fashion Image in 2006. After graduating, I wanted to learn more about skin care, so I went to Scientific Marvel in Winnipeg for esthetics training, graduating in 2007.
The start of a beautiful career
I started my career as lead esthetician at two salons before moving my way up to a position at the coveted and highly sought after Ten Spa where I could put my love of skin care to practice in a high end environment that catered to customer care and excellence. During this time, I also did freelance makeup for a number of wonderful clients and events including the Wonderful Wedding Show fashion show, film and commercial work, music videos, weddings and editorial shoots.
When I left Ten Spa to start a family and assist my husband with his business, I quickly realized how much I missed certain aspects of esthetics and makeup. I started my own business, Beauty by Danusja, to begin offering high quality skin care and bridal make up to clients looking to feel polished and feel good in their own skin on a day they’ve been dreaming of. Working with both skin care and makeup allows me to bring a unique touch to my services. Great skin is the foundation of flawless makeup and I love working with clients to see their natural beauty shine through.
